Example Customer Service InstantPalace
This example illustrates a button-activated InstantPalace that could
be used in a customer service environment. Clicking a button on the first web page causes
a small InstantPalace window to appear where a customer service representative could
answer questions, direct users to a specific area on the website, or even push web content
into a frame on the user's browser.
This example also turns off the ability for the user to type a name
and choose an avatar when originally entering the InstantPalace environment. See InstantPalace Parameters here.
Files
The files for this example are located in the
/palace/client/button-activated directory.
- index.html
- This file defines the frames that are included in the initial web
page. The left frame contains controls -- that is, a Customer Service button.
Clicking on that button causes a new page (containing an InstantPalace window) to appear.
The right frame includes a dummy web page. You can easily change the reference in this
right frame to point to one of your own web pages. If you do, you'll probably also
want to change the left frame to point to something of your own format.
-
- palace-frame.html
- This file defines the frames that are included in the page that is
displayed when the user clicks on the Customer Service button. The top left frame
contains a small InstantPalace window. The bottom left fram and the right frame
contain dummy web pages.
- details.html
dummy.html
button-intro.html
button-panel2.html
- These are dummy web pages. You can replace them
with any of your own.
-
- button-panel.html
This file is displayed in the left panel of the initial web page. The
Customer Service button links to a page that includes the InstantPalace view.
- tinypalacea.html
- This html file formats the InstantPalace view to include only the
room view and input box. All the buttons and button panel are removed. Changing this
file affects how InstantPalace appears.
