Color Syntax Highlighting for Iptscrae
- Color Syntax Highlighting for TextPad
To add Color Syntax Highlighting for Iptscrae to TextPad for .ipt, .dat, and .pat files, download an iptscrae.syn file. Unzip the iptscrae.syn file, and add it to your Textpad 4/System directory. Then launch TextPad. Go to Configure Menu/Preferences. Select Document Classes. There are icons for adding (New) and deleting. Click the icon "New". Enter "Iptscrae". Click "Apply". Double-click on "Document Classes" to show its sub-menu, and then click on Iptscrae.
In the "Files in Class Iptscrae" section, add:
*.ipt *.pat *.datYou may want to adjust some of the general preferences in the "Document Class Options" section to the right of these file extensions.
Double-click on "Iptscrae" in the left section to expose its sub-menu, (same as you did with "Document Classes") and click on "Syntax". Check the "Enable Syntax Highlighting" box at the top. Select iptscrae.syn from the popup menu below, and click "Apply". Click "OK" and close out the configuration window. Open a .pat. .dat. or .ipt file and check out the colors.
If you prefer, you can customize the colors in the Color section of the Iptscrae Class. You can also adjust the font in the Font section. A fixed width (monospaced) font such as Courier works really well for these types of files, as it lines things up nicely. Suggested default font settings for Iptscrae Class: Font: New Courier, Font Style: Regular, Size: 10.
TextPad 4.0 or newer is required for Color Syntax Highlighting.
- Color Syntax Highlighting for UltraEdit
To add Color Syntax Highlighting for Iptscrae to UltraEdit for .ipt, .dat, and .pat files, download a Wordfile.txt file. Unzip the Wordfile.txt file, and drop it in your UltraEdit directory. Before doing this, back up your current Wordfile.txt file. If you don't like the change, then you can always revert to your original Wordfile.txt.
UltraEdit reads this file on application launch, so if it was open, it needs to be closed and re-opened for the change to take effect. Then just open any .ipt, .dat, or .pat file and check out the colors.
If you are already using Color Syntax Highlighting for other than the default languages included with an UltraEdit install, you'll just want to pull the /L6 section from this Wordfile.txt and add it to the end of yours, and appropriately increment the /L number.
Color changes are made by accessing Advanced menu, Configuration, click on the Syntax Highlighting tab. Under "Language", go to Iptscrae (if you access this panel when a .dat, .pat, or .ipt file is open it will already be set to Iptscrae), and then review the "Color Group" items. Changing "Numbers" to be black versus the default red, changing "Comments" to be a medium green versus the default grey, and changing many of the other items to be medium blue will make the UltraEdit color scheme approximate the TextPad color scheme. This is entirely optional, as these settings can be used to develop any color scheme you'd like.
